One problem with torrent sites being shutdown is that they only exist as one entity. I am writing this in response to oink just being shutdown today. A alternative to this method would be to have a torrent site/community clone it self and divide every so often, creating sort of a redundancy. For example:

Lets say we have the torrent community "X", we take the current user database of X and clone it to create the new torrent community Y. As long as X and Y exists, they go about their business normal, but as two totally different entities. The operations, servers, locations, invitation, growth and the people managing it must be different. If anything is kept common other than the original user base this method would fail.

But if either X or Y gets shut down, the remaining community would split again. For example if X gets shutdown
