Standup/Lock

As a habit now, every time I stand up from the computer, I press the hotkey to lock the computer (yes, even when I am the only one around at home). It hit me, why not automate this. A sensor you can have on the chair that would lock the machine when it detects you stand up.

Concept seems simple enough, all I need now is some free time to implement this.

I have it so that if my bluetooth phone, which is normally in my pocket, moves outside the vicinity of the computer, it locks. It is pretty cool.

There’s solutions with active RFID that do this. Expensive though (the active RFID hardware).

Hey yo, the bluetooth did the trick… at first I started to write my own script but soon discovered that someone already did this. Application name is blueproximity which lock’s and unlock’s the machine depending on the proximity using your bluetooth phone.
