Good Bye vim…
… and hello Emacs. Or at least thats the plan. The site was pretty inactive for the past few weeks because of insane amounts of school work, so I have to write something. So I have decided to ditch vim as my primary editor and switch to Emacs. I never really had used Emacs before (or spend the time to really learn it) until yesterday. It was a long drive from Louisiana from the ICPC Programming contest (another post) but I decided to take the best use of that time to teach my self Emacs. So far I haven’t really explored the deep features in Emacs, but the few I have come across such as indent and the c++-mode are much more mature and easier for me than the vim’s equavalants (and this is just during my first day). The interface is still a little weird, but definitly more efficient than vim, but then again it will take me a good amount of time to have it down naturally. Having the ability to use the mouse more naturally than vim was another reason I have decided to use Emacs. I will still use vim dearly for all my quick edits, but for larger projects hopefully Emacs will make me more productive. If you haven’t learned Emacs, at least check up on it. Let see how it goes.
